Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 70.75 points down at 16983.2 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd., DCB Bank, Gulf Oil India and CreditAccess Grameen, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 21 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 29 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Power Grid, Titan Company, SBI Life, Shree Cements and Bajaj Finserv were among top gainers during the day, while Tata Steel, Kotak Bank, JSW Steel, Adani Ports SEZ and M&M ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 195.71 points down at 57064.87.
Traders piled up positions in Cables, Glass, Tea / Coffee, IT Enabled Services and Plastics sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Services and Metals – Ferrous sectors during the day.
