Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Thursday, shrugging off data which showed another sharp contraction in the U.S. economy and a rise in weekly jobless claims.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 262.0 points, or 0.87%, at the open to 30,565.86. The S&P 500 rose 31.0 points, or 0.83%, at the open to 3,781.79, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 83.7 points, or 0.63%, to 13,354.45 at the opening bell.
