Shares of Bank of Maharashtra (up 19.95 per cent), Punjab & Sind Bank (up 19.87 per cent), Indian Overseas Bank (up 19.85 per cent), Bank of India (up 18.63 per cent) and Central Bank of India (up 18.56 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 5.52 per cent up at 2442.9 around 12:58PM.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 55.55 points at 15257.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 217.03 points at 51887.14.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.
Shares of PNB, Central Bank of India, Vodafone Idea,
and Bank of India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
