GAIL Stock Price: Share price of GAIL jumps as Sensex gains 218.24 points

The share price of (India) Ltd. gained 2.75 per cent to Rs 136.45 at 10:46AM (IST) in Tuesday’s trade. The scrip has hit a high of Rs 137.05 and low of Rs 133.15 so far during the session. The stock had closed at Rs 132.8 in the previous session.

The counter has had a total traded volume of 299738 shares so far with a value of Rs 4.07 crore on the NSE. It traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 7.35 and a price-to-book ratio of 0.7.

A higher price-to-earnings ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price for per rupee earnings given by the stock because of better future growth expectations.

The price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and reflects the price investors are willing to pay even for no growth in the business.

The scrip gained 58.63 per cent during the past one year, while the 30-share index advanced 74.38 per cent during the same period.

The company reported consolidated sales of Rs 15882.82 crore for the quarter ended 31-Dec-2020, up 12.71 per cent from the previous quarter’s Rs 14091.23 crore and up 12.15 per cent from the year-ago quarter’s Rs 18078.73 crore.

Profit for the latest quarter stood at Rs 1883.61 crore, down 6.97 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.
