The S&P 500 opened near an all-time high on Wednesday as data showed U.S. private payrolls increased solidly in June, while the major U.S. stock averages look to wrap up their fifth straight quarter of gains.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 60.90 points or 0.18% to 34,353.19 in early deals.
The S&P 500 declined by 2.80 points, or 0.07%, at 4,289.00, near its all-time high of 4,300.52.
The Nasdaq Composite dropped 40.22 points, or 0.28%, to 14,488.11.
