Ashok Leyland (up 0.78 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.71 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (up 0.53 per cent), TIINDIA (up 0.24 per cent) and Bharat Forge (up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.
MRF (down 1.41 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 1.11 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.68 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 0.51 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (down 0.45 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.15 per cent at 10451.75 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 88.2 points at 15942.15, while the BSE Sensex was up 325.04 points at 53229.09.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.
