Shares of Maruti Suzuki (up 0.94 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.58 per cent) and TIINDIA (up 0.52 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TVS Motor Company (down 3.05 per cent), Tata Motors (down 2.17 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 2.01 per cent), Exide Industries (down 1.84 per cent) and Bharat Forge (down 1.67 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.86 per cent down at 10222.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 120.3 points at 15632.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 354.89 points at 52198.51.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Power, PNB and Ibull Real Estate were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Laxmi Cotspin, Precision Camshaft, Ramco Ind, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. and Steel City Securitie hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Walpar Nutritions Ltd., GFL Ltd., AKG Exim Ltd., Shubhlaxmi Jewel Art and SKS Textiles hit their fresh 52-week lows.
