Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 191.95 points up at 15824.05 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Madhav Copper, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., Perfect Infraenginee and AKG Exim Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 41 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 9 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steel, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finserv were among top gainers during the day, while HUL, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Cipla and Britannia ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 638.7 points up at 52837.21.
Traders piled up positions in Metals – Ferrous, Tea / Coffee, Diversified, Miscellaneous and Tourism & Hospitality sectors, while selling was witnessed in Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Irrigation & Allied Services, Building Materials, FMCG and Agro Processing sectors during the day.
