Balkrishna Industries (up 0.75 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (up 0.75 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.57 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.43 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.34 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Tata Motors (down 1.82 per cent), Bosch (down 0.16 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 0.15 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 0.14 per cent) and MRF (down 0.09 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.1 per cent at 10246.3 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 19.4 points at 15843.45, while the BSE Sensex was up 60.67 points at 52897.88.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.
