Shares of Eicher Motors (up 0.53 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 0.43 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.13 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries (up 0.11 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ashok Leyland (down 1.97 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 1.3 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 0.87 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.81 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki (down 0.8 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.62 per cent down at 10137.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 31.6 points at 15824.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 123.53 points at 52852.27.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, SAIL and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Jocil Ltd, Pashupati Cotspin, Premier Poly, Caplin Point and Orient Bell hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Walpar Nutritions Ltd., Rajvir Ind, PVP Ventures Ltd., Keerti Knowledge and AKG Exim Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
