Shares of State Bank of India (up 1.57 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank (up 1.3 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 0.36 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 0.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank (down 3.25 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 2.45 per cent), RBLBANK (down 1.16 per cent), Federal Bank (down 1.09 per cent) and IDFCBANK (down 0.88 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.44 per cent down at 34797.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 78.0 points at 15746.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 273.51 points at 52578.76.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of KPI Global Infra, Shreyans Ind, United Nilgiri Tea, Premier Poly and CCL Products hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Alembic Pharma, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., PVP Ventures Ltd., Viceroy Hotels and RIL (PP) hit their fresh 52-week lows.
