Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 46.4 points to 15870.85 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Alembic Pharma, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., PVP Ventures Ltd., RIL (PP) and Keerti Knowledge, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 32 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 17 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, JSW Steel and SBI were among top gainers, while Axis Bank, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma and HDFC traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 120.32 points up at 52972.59 at 10:09AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Tea / Coffee, Rubber, Metals – Ferrous, Diversified and Trading sectors, while selling was visible in Petrochemicals, Industrial Consumables, Apparels, Power and Airlines sectors.
