Tata Motors (up 3.06 per cent), TIINDIA (up 2.36 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 1.4 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.67 per cent) and Bharat Forge (up 0.59 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Maruti Suzuki (down 2.41 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (down 1.53 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 1.47 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 0.6 per cent) and Exide Industries (down 0.54 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.12 per cent at 9988.2 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 62.6 points at 15772.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 207.86 points at 52651.57.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.
