Shares of State Bank of India (up 3.77 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 2.6 per cent), IDFCBANK (up 2.47 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank (up 1.66 per cent) and Federal Bank (up 0.41 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bandhan Bank (down 1.2 per cent), RBLBANK (down 0.86 per cent), Axis Bank (down 0.78 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.68 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.46 per cent up at 34691.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 69.05 points at 15778.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 209.36 points at 52653.07.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, SAIL, Zomato Ltd., NALCO and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem Ltd., N R Agarwal Ind, Cineline India, Swan Energy and Gallantt Ispat hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Madhav Copper, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., We Win, Bright Solar and Alembic Pharma hit their fresh 52-week lows.
