Shares of Tech Mahindra (up 7.25 per cent), Mindtree (up 2.49 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 1.72 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 0.96 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MPhasis (down 2.62 per cent), Coforge (down 1.69 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.58 per cent), Tata Consultancy (down 0.89 per cent) and Wipro (down 0.56 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.36 per cent up at 30480.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 15.4 points at 15763.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 66.23 points at 52586.84.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
