Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 151.2 points to 16281.95 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Vodafone Idea and AKG Exim Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 33 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 17 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank were among top gainers, while Tata Consumer, Titan Company, Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra and ONGC traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 595.69 points up at 54419.05 at 10:45AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, Agro Processing, Tea / Coffee and NBFC sectors, while selling was visible in Petrochemicals, Power, Sugar, Miscellaneous and Cables sectors.
