Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 45.95 points up at 16496.45 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Ujjivan Financial, PTC Financial, Windlas Biotech Ltd., Vertoz Advertising and Biocon, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 22 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 27 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HCL Tech, Nestle India, TCS, Bajaj Finserv and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers during the day, while Grasim Inds., Adani Ports SEZ, M&M, Eicher Motors and Bajaj Auto ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 226.47 points up at 55555.79.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, IT Software, Telecommunications, Airlines and FMCG sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Paper, Sugar and IT Enabled Services sectors during the day.
