Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 61.95 points to 16686.55 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Transwind Infrastruc, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 28 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 21 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HDFC Life, Tata Motors, TCS, Hindalco and Adani Ports SEZ were among top gainers, while Dr. Reddys, Titan Company, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv and Divis Labs traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 176.75 points up at 56135.73 at 10:14AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Aquaculture, Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, Learning & Education and Irrigation & Allied Services sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Beverages – Alcoholic and Gems and Jewellery sectors.
