Shares of Dr Reddys Laboratories (up 2.15 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (up 1.84 per cent), Biocon (up 1.67 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 1.56 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 1.48 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 0.19 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.38 per cent up at 13948.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 68.3 points at 16705.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 175.62 points at 56124.72.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, NALCO, YES Bank, SAIL and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of 8K Miles Soft, Gayatri Project, Laxmi Organic Industries Ltd., Ganesh Housing and Banco Products hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Network People Services Technologies Ltd., We Win, Radha Madhav, Rex Pipes and Cables Industries Ltd. and Grand Foundry hit their fresh 52-week lows.
