Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 156.65 points to 16861.85 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Transwind Infrastruc, Autolite India, Network People Services Technologies Ltd., Keerti Knowledge and DQ Entertainmnt, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 45 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 5 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Hindalco, Bajaj Finance, L&T and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers, while Nestle India, Tech Mahindra, SBI Life, Infosys and HCL Tech traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 538.02 points up at 56662.74 at 10:30AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, Paper, General and Tea / Coffee sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock and IT Enabled Services sectors.
