Exide Industries (up 3.04 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 2.42 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.62 per cent), TIINDIA (up 0.84 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 0.73 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Mahindra & Mahindra (down 0.95 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 0.93 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 0.29 per cent) and Ashok Leyland (down 0.16 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.24 per cent at 10058.75 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 86.15 points at 17218.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 342.83 points at 57895.22.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.
