Shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals (up 1.48 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 1.48 per cent), Biocon (up 1.35 per cent), Divis Laboratories (up 0.83 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories (up 0.8 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories (down 1.9 per cent), Cipla (down 1.48 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (down 0.15 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.19 per cent up at 14485.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 89.45 points at 17323.6, while the BSE Sensex stood up 277.41 points at 58129.95.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Trident Ltd and Exide Inds. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
