Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 74.25 points to 17397.85 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Nandani Creation, Jiya Eco Products Lt, Autolite India, Walpar Nutritions Ltd. and Yuken India, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 27 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 22 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, RIL, Grasim Inds., Bajaj Auto, HUL and Shree Cements were among top gainers, while Tata Steel, Power Grid, JSW Steel, SBI Life and HDFC Bank traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 317.24 points up at 58447.19 at 10:14AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Textiles, Rubber, Media & Entertainment and Glass sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Tea / Coffee and Sugar sectors.
