Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 70.75 points to 17426.05 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Grand Foundry, Varroc Engg. and Inventure Grwth, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 41 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 9 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Hero MotoCorp, HCL Tech, Axis Bank, Adani Ports SEZ and Britannia were among top gainers, while HUL, Bharti Airtel, Coal India Ltd, Hindalco and UltraTech Cem. traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 227.75 points up at 58405.51 at 10:29AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Media & Entertainment, Learning & Education, Diversified, Metals – Ferrous and Packaging sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Power and Industrial Consumables sectors.
