Shares of Balkrishna Industries (up 2.23 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 1.47 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 1.44 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.0 per cent) and Bosch (up 0.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki (down 2.49 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 2.25 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 1.35 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 1.25 per cent) and Exide Industries (down 0.94 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.46 per cent down at 10155.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 165.1 points at 17562.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 398.55 points at 58889.48.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 ended in the green, while 10 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, ITC and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of NDTV, Amrutanjan Healt, Clean Science & Technology Ltd., Seamec Ltd and Share India Sec hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., Shanti Overseas (Ind, Generic Engg, Intnl Conveyors and CarTrade Tech Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
