Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 47.65 points to 17870.6 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 22 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 28 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Asian Paints, HCL Tech, Grasim Inds., Wipro and Infosys were among top gainers, while JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Hindalco, SBI and Tata Consumer traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 195.65 points up at 60081.01 at 09:59AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Building Materials, IT Software, Electric/Electronics and Sugar sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Textiles, Petrochemicals, Power and Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock sectors.
