Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 2.09 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.71 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.3 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, ICICI Bank(down 1.76 per cent), RBLBANK(down 1.58 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 1.39 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 1.28 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.97 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.59 per cent down at 37945.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 106.5 points at 17748.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 410.28 points at 59667.6.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, YES Bank, IDBI Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
