JSW Energy(up 4.79%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 4.52%), NLC India(up 4.15%), NTPC(up 4.02%), NHPC(up 1.98%), Torrent Power(up 1.69%), Karma Energy(up 1.68%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.31%), PTC India(up 1.18%) and Tata Power Company(up 0.94%) stood among the top gainers.
Inox wind(down 2.85%), NTL(down 2.44%), RTNPOWER(down 2.33%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 2.24%), Energy Development Company(down 2.19%), Voltamp Transformers(down 2.04%), Adani Transmissions(down 1.81%), Suzlon Energy(down 1.59%), Indowind Energy(down 1.56%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.18%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 106.5 points down at 17748.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 410.28 points at 59667.6.
Power Grid Corporation of India(up 4.52%), Coal India(up 4.49%), NTPC(up 4.02%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 3.62%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.14%), JSW Steel(up 1.88%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.87%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.71%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.58%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.57%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel(down 3.65%), Tech Mahindra(down 3.44%), Bajaj Finance(down 3.23%), Divis Laboratories(down 3.01%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.67%), Wipro(down 2.19%), HCL Technologies(down 2.02%), Infosys(down 1.98%), ICICI Bank(down 1.76%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.54%) closed in the red.
