Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 106.5 points down at 17748.6 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Opto Circuits, CarTrade Tech Ltd., Metalyst Forgings, Inventure Grwth and Dhani Ibull Ventures(PP), touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 19 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 30 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Power Grid, Coal India Ltd, NTPC, Indian Oil Corp. and BPCL were among top gainers during the day, while Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Divis Labs and Bajaj Finserv ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 410.28 points down at 59667.60.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Term Lending Institutions, Auto, Mining and Gas & Petroleum sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Textiles, Petrochemicals, Airlines and IT Software sectors during the day.
