Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 37.3 points down at 17711.3 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as CarTrade Tech Ltd., Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., Opto Circuits, Shrem InvIT and Transwind Infrastruc, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 28 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 22 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, NTPC, Coal India Ltd, Power Grid, Sun Pharma and Indian Oil Corp. were among top gainers during the day, while HDFC, Kotak Bank, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cem. and HUL ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 254.33 points down at 59413.27.
Traders piled up positions in Mining, Infrastructure, Diversified, Irrigation & Allied Services and Metals – Ferrous sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Textiles, Petrochemicals, Telecommunications and Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock sectors during the day.
