Shares of Ashok Leyland(up 3.44 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 1.15 per cent), TIINDIA(up 1.14 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.94 per cent) and MRF(up 0.4 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Eicher Motors(down 1.87 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.86 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 1.71 per cent), Exide Industries(down 1.19 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.54 per cent down at 10598.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 93.15 points at 17618.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 286.91 points at 59126.36.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, BHEL, PNB and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Thejo Engg, Spencer’s Retail Ltd., Triveni Turbine and Ambika Cotton hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Shrenik, Inventure Grwth, BKM Industries, Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd. and Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
