Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Tuesday’s session.

JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 15.59%), Vadilal Industries(up 5.73%), Hind.Foods(up 5.00%), EIFFL(up 4.96%), Tasty Bite Eatables(up 2.45%), Parag Milk(up 1.60%), Heritage Foods(up 1.51%), Godrej Consumer Products(up 1.21%), Zydus Wellness(up 1.16%) and Umang Dairies(up 1.02%) stood among the top gainers.

Ravalgaon Sugar Farm Ltd.(down 3.23%), Nakoda Group(down 2.08%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.58%), Dabur India(down 1.28%), P & G Hygiene(down 0.91%), Dangee Dums(down 0.79%), Prataap Snacks(down 0.54%), Nestle India(down 0.50%), Varun Beverages(down 0.30%) and Jyothy Labs(down 0.27%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 131.05 points up at 17822.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 445.56 points at 59744.88.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 10.87%), IndusInd Bank(up 4.36%), Coal India(up 4.21%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 2.89%), Bharti Airtel(up 2.62%), SBI Life(up 2.53%), Reliance Industries(up 2.08%), HCL Technologies(up 2.07%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.84%) and Titan Company Ltd(up 1.73%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Cipla(down 2.4%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.06%), Shree Cement(down 1.79%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.58%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.38%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.89%), Grasim Industries(down 0.86%), ITC(down 0.8%), UltraTech Cement(down 0.69%) and Tata Steel(down 0.55%) closed in the red.
