Ashok Leyland(up 2.0 per cent), Tata Motors(up 1.33 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.07 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 0.84 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(up 0.76 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Bharat Forge(down 2.06 per cent), MRF(down 0.55 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 0.44 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.24 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.16 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.56 per cent at 10700.3 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 4.0 points at 17695.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 10.46 points at 59288.86.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.
