Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 35.7 points to 17858.0 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Quadpro ITeS Ltd. and Inventure Grwth, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 23 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 27 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, UPL, ONGC, Britannia, HDFC Bank and HDFC Life were among top gainers, while Coal India Ltd, Divis Labs, JSW Steel, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 139.11 points up at 59883.99 at 10:04AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Trading, Packaging, Metals – Ferrous and Irrigation & Allied Services sectors, while selling was visible in Learning & Education, Textiles, Petrochemicals, Telecommunications and Power sectors.
