Shares of Bandhan Bank(up 7.49 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 3.08 per cent), RBLBANK(up 2.54 per cent), ICICI Bank(up 1.84 per cent) and IDFCBANK(up 1.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 0.27 per cent), Axis Bank(down 0.24 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.17 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.62 per cent up at 37753.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 144.35 points at 17790.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 488.1 points at 59677.83.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Trident Ltd, YES Bank and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
