Shares of Tata Motors(up 8.57 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 4.67 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 3.64 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.03 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries(up 1.39 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MRF(down 1.08 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.71 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 2.67 per cent up at 11375.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 50.75 points at 17945.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 76.72 points at 60135.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, Tata Motors, Suzlon Energy and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Hindprakash Industri, GOCL Corporation, Aban Offshore, Kirloskar Elec and Hindustan Motor hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Jiya Eco Products Lt, Jainam Ferro Alloys(I)Ltd., Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd. and Coastal Corp hit their fresh 52-week lows.
