Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 8.11 per cent), RBLBANK(up 3.34 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 3.14 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 2.64 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 2.62 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 1.01 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.31 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.87 per cent up at 39684.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 138.5 points at 18477.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 459.64 points at 61765.59.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of PNB, YES Bank, Tata Power, NALCO and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Bhagiradha Chem, SML Isuzu, Vishwaraj Sugar, United Drilling and INEOS Styrolution hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Servotech Power Syst, Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Pasupati Acrylon, Jiya Eco Products Lt and Coastal Corp hit their fresh 52-week lows.
