Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 152.15 points down at 18266.6 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Marine Electricals, Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Strides Shasun and Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 11 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 39 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel, SBI, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank were among top gainers during the day, while Hindalco, Titan Company, HUL, BPCL and Bajaj Finserv ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 456.09 points down at 61259.96.
Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, Electric/Electronics, Media & Entertainment, Metals – Ferrous and IT – Hardware sectors, while selling was witnessed in Learning & Education, Tourism & Hospitality, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Power and Industrial Consumables sectors during the day.
