Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 2.65 per cent), Granules India(up 2.47 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 2.23 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 1.51 per cent) and Abbott India(up 1.48 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Laurus(down 4.54 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 2.15 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 1.52 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(down 1.28 per cent) and Pfizer(down 0.94 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.05 per cent down at 14169.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 88.5 points at 18178.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 336.46 points at 60923.5.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, Vodafone Idea, PNB and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Shoppers Stop, Arihant Found, IRB Infra Dev., Confidence Petro and Jindal Worldwide hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Crown Lifters, Dev Information Tech, SREI Infra Fin, Bhagiradha Chem and Quadpro ITeS Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
