Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.21 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 0.29 per cent) were among the top gainers.
TIINDIA(down 2.73 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.96 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 1.96 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.89 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 1.86 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 1.02 per cent at 11317.55 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 39.25 points at 18154.15, while the BSE Sensex was up 219.56 points at 61041.18.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of ICICI Bank, Arihant Found, KEC Int., Ambika Cotton and Tanla Solutions hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Airo Lam, Huhtamaki PPL, SREI Infra Fin, Jiya Eco Products Lt and Intnl Conveyors hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
