Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 10.5 points up at 18125.4 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Airo Lam, Huhtamaki PPL, Synergy Green Ind, Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd. and Generic Engg, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 12 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 37 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, ONGC, JSW Steel and Dr. Reddys were among top gainers during the day, while BPCL, SBI Life, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Auto and HCL Tech ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 145.43 points up at 60967.05.
Traders piled up positions in Metals – Ferrous, Banks, Hospitals & Allied Services, IT – Hardware and Gas & Petroleum sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Learning & Education, Services, Tourism & Hospitality and Cables sectors during the day.
