Shares of Alkem Laboratories(up 4.17 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 3.05 per cent), Lupin(up 2.32 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 2.11 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 2.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Laurus(down 3.87 per cent), Biocon(down 0.8 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.77 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.5 per cent) and Abbott India(down 0.46 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.23 per cent up at 14049.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 258.0 points at 17929.65, while the BSE Sensex stood up 831.53 points at 60138.46.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 ended in the green, while 4 closed in the red.

Shares of Kriti Ind, MPS Infotecnics, Precision Wires, RSWM Ltd and LG Balakrishnan hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Asian Hotels(W), Jiya Eco Products Lt, Ramco Systems, Intnl Conveyors and Nandani Creation hit their fresh 52-week lows.
