Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 40.7 points down at 17888.95 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Bayer Cropsc., Servotech Power Syst, Pasupati Acrylon, Mahindra EPC and Aarti Drugs, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 22 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 28 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Maruti Suzuki, Titan Company, NTPC, SBI and L&T were among top gainers during the day, while Tata Steel, Grasim Inds., JSW Steel, Tech Mahindra and Hindalco ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 109.4 points down at 60029.06.
Traders piled up positions in Real Estate, Logistics, Electric/Electronics, Glass and Media & Entertainment sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Pesticides/Agro Chemicals and Services sectors during the day.
