Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.4% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 10:24AM(IST)on Wednesday in an upbeat market.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.1 per cent), Granules India(up 1.07 per cent), Biocon(up 0.93 per cent), Lupin(up 0.64 per cent) and Ipca Laboratories(up 0.49 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.89 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 1.6 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.62 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.33 per cent) and Abbott India(down 0.33 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.4 per cent at 13936.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 70.3 points at 17959.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 211.77 points at 60240.83.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Tele, Tata Power, Bank of Baroda and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Digjam L, Shiva Mills, eClerx Services, Devyani International Ltd. and Mazagon Dock Ship hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Airo Lam, Kotyark Industries Ltd., Ramco Systems, RPP Infra Proj(PP)and Opto Circuits hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
