Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 27.05 points down at 18017.2 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Patel Integrat(PP), Chaman Lal Setia, Strides Shasun, Vikas WSP and Priti International, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 25 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 25 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, UPL, Bharti Airtel, M&M, Britannia and Sun Pharma were among top gainers during the day, while IndusInd Bank, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Coal India Ltd and JSW Steel ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 80.63 points down at 60352.82.
Traders piled up positions in IT – Hardware, Retail, Agro Processing, Sugar and Irrigation & Allied Services sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, IT Enabled Services and Services sectors during the day.
