Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 2.46 per cent), State Bank of India(up 1.13 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 0.56 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 2.47 per cent), Federal Bank(down 2.47 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 2.45 per cent), RBLBANK(down 2.05 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(down 1.85 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.17 per cent down at 37976.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 133.85 points at 17764.8, while the BSE Sensex stood down 372.32 points at 59636.01.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 42 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Tata Power, Vedanta and Trident Ltd were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kotyark Industries Ltd., Indian Terrain, Escorts, Lakshmi Finance and Ugro Capital hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while One97 Communications Ltd., Fino Payments Bank Ltd., SJS Enterprises Ltd., RPP Infra Proj(PP)and Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
