Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 348.25 points down at 17416.55 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as One97 Communications Ltd., Fino Payments Bank Ltd., Valiant Organics, Sadbhav Eng and Biofil Chem, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 8 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 42 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, JSW Steel, Power Grid and Hindalco were among top gainers during the day, while Bajaj Finance, ONGC, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Motors and RIL ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 1170.12 points down at 58465.89.
Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, Industrial Equipment, InvIT, Building Materials and Metals – Non Ferrous sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Services and Sugar sectors during the day.
