Voda Idea share price: Voda Idea follows Airtel, announces new tariff plans; stock remains unchanged

NEW DELHI: Shares of Vodafone Idea remained flat on Tuesday after the company announced new tariff plans for its prepaid customers, coming on the heels of a similar plan announced by Airtel a day prior.

The company in a press release said it is raising its tariff rates from November 25. The lowest plan is now priced at Rs 99 against Rs 79 now.

On NSE, Vodafone Idea traded at Rs 10.60. However, it had already rallied about 8 per cent on Monday in the anticipation of the move.

The price hike was expected after Airtel said it was raising pricing to make sure its average revenue per user (ARPU) reaches Rs 200 and then eventually Rs 300.

However, one concern that analysts say is Voda Idea has a larger share of low-ARPU subscribers, and raising the low-end tariffs could backfire, given the telco is already losing subscribers. But no one denies it badly needed tariff hikes.

Now all eyes are on Reliance Jio who is the only one yet to announce a hike in prices.
