Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 509.8 points down at 17026.45 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as RPP Infra Proj(PP), Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd., Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd. and Crown Lifters, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 5 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 45 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Cipla, Dr. Reddys, Divis Labs, Nestle India and TCS were among top gainers during the day, while JSW Steel, Hindalco, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank and Adani Ports SEZ ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 1687.94 points down at 57107.15.
Traders piled up positions in Pharmaceuticals, Hospitals & Allied Services, IT – Hardware, InvIT and Holding Company sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Airlines and Services sectors during the day.
