Shares of Alkem Laboratories(up 2.47 per cent), Granules India(up 2.19 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 2.16 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(up 1.97 per cent) and Natco Pharma(up 1.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Pfizer(down 1.45 per cent), Biocon(down 1.1 per cent), Lupin(down 0.96 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.95 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(down 0.86 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.1 per cent up at 13662.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 70.75 points at 16983.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 195.71 points at 57064.87.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Tata Power, YES Bank and REC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
